End of the World Train
Years ago, this freight train was used to transport firewood to the Ushuaia prison. Now, “el Tren del Fin del Mundo” has become an uncommon way to learn more about this part of Ushuaia’s past.
The railway is located at the End of the World Train Station eight kilometers west of the city. There you board a replica of the “Prisoner’s Train”, which takes you on the same trip that the prisoners used to make to cut down firewood for the local population. Along the trip, you’ll pass ancient forests, rivers, peatlands and a reconstructed indigenous settlement. There is a stop at the Macarena Falls and then it’s on to Tierra del Fuego National Park, where this railway adventure comes to an end.
